Personnel Armour products fall into two categories namely Flexible Armour required for protection of personnel and Rigid Armour required for protection of vehicles and equipment. The protection mentioned here is against attack by different types of ammunition using different weapons. Such Armour products have now become an essential item of defence store to protect lives and property from enemy attacks and insurgency. These products are designed using predetermined layers of high tenacity fabrics of ballistic grade, which when put together, defeat the incoming projectile by absorbing the input energy and distributing the same within itself and by restricting the resulting trauma within the limits allowable. They are capable of being form-fitted to the shape of the body or of the equipment under protection and offer a very low weight option compared to other modes of protection which use heavy materials like high armour steel.
TAML supplies such products regularly to Indian Defence Forces, Paramilitary forces and other such forces abroad. TAML is the largest manufacturer of Ballistic Vests in India and has supplied almost 50,000 vests to date. TAML is the only manufacturer of Ballistic Helmets and has supplied almost 10,000 helmets to date. TAML is also the only exporter of Personnal Armour products from India.
